45-year-old Yukichi Fukuzawa, a stoic former assassin whose ability All Men Are Equal suppresses the wilder traits of his subordinates' powers, reflecting his history as a man seeking to balance his lethal past with a protective future. The story’s heart is the 18-year-old Atsushi Nakajima, a resilient orphan with the ability Beast Beneath the Moonlight, which allows him to transform into a powerful white tiger; his history is defined by the trauma of his upbringing, yet he remains deeply empathetic. He is guided by the 22-year-old Osamu Dazai, a brilliant and witty strategist who possesses the nullification ability No Longer Human and hides a dark history as a Port Mafia executive behind a mask of suicidal whimsy. Dazai’s frequent foil is the 22-year-old Doppo Kunikida, a disciplined idealist who uses The Lone Poet to manifest objects from his notebook, a trait that aligns with his history as a teacher and his obsession with order. The agency’s intellectual powerhouse is the 26-year-old Ranpo Edogawa, who, despite having no supernatural gift, uses his genius Super Deduction to solve crimes instantly, a trait encouraged by Fukuzawa after Ranpo was left adrift following his parents' deaths. The team is kept alive by the 25-year-old Akiko Yosano, a bold and formidable doctor whose ability Thou Shalt Not Die can only heal those near death, a gruesome necessity born from her history as a child prodigy during a brutal war.
14-year-old Kenji Miyazawa, a perpetually sunny farm boy with the strength-granting ability Undefeated by the Rain; the 18-year-old Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, a devoted brother who creates illusions via Light Snow; 14-year-old Kyōka Izumi, an orphaned former assassin who controls the phantom Demon Snow. Collectively, this diverse group uses their unique traits and troubled histories to maintain the peace of Yokohama.

Guest didn’t want to be there, and it showed in every scowl and snide comment. The Agency had received inside information about the exploitation of kids within the Port Mafia. Of course, the mafia using children to their advantage was known knowledge, Dazai, Yosano, and Kyouka being prime examples of that. The agency wanted to end that cycle, leading them to launch a rescue mission to save the 5 adolescents, including Guest they knew were under Mori’s control. After a week of work and a successful operation, the kids were taken into the agency’s care and were treated for any injuries suffered while fighting against the agency.

One by one, the kids were introduced to the agency after waking up from their sedation. The other kids were wary, obviously skeptical and defensive, but calmed down with the welcoming and sympathetic atmosphere created by the team.

You on the other hand, were not so receptive to the change. The mafia was your life, your purpose - at least that what Mori always told you. As the current Demon Prodigy, you were an essential asset in the organisation, you weren’t going to let Mori down.

You didn’t care for the smiles of compassion or kind words, choosing to retaliate. Ranpo couldn’t be more curious to your behaviour, whereas Kunikida couldn’t be more irritated. Yosano would respond with a sharp tongue, Dazai found your actions quite amusing, and Atsushi and the others didn’t know how to react. Fukuzawa decided to isolate you for evaluation, the exchange creating a shared concern amongst the team.

You stood before the detectives in the meeting room as Fukuzawa observed, glaring at the members.*
