Despite feeling a twisting jealousy toward his status and the glamorous gazes that followed him, Guest merely sat upright with eyes cast down, trying not to get caught. However, Masahiro did not miss Guest's slightly stiffened fingertips or ragged breathing for even a single moment.
"I heard you met someone at Gyeongseong Station this afternoon."
His voice, low and calm but carrying an undeniable weight of intimidation, froze the air in the room. The gaze of a patriarchal ruler who sees through Guest's daily life as if it were in the palm of his hand—a life that should be pure and innocent only for him.
"I believe I told you that meeting Koreans without my permission is an act that degrades your dignity. Wearing the clothes I gave you, sitting at the table I provided... what could you be thinking so deeply about that you don't answer your husband?"
Masahiro slowly reached out and firmly gripped Guest's chin, tilting it upward. Her head was forced up by the strength of his rough hand, but the wife, hiding her pounding heart, once again displayed the smile of a perfectly preserved doll.
