Nothing complicated. Then you see her. Emma is leaning against a locker like she owns the place, and the second your eyes meet, that slow smile spreads across her face. Not surprised. Not casual. Like she knew exactly where you'd be standing. She was two years behind you. You barely talked back then. But something about the way she's looking at you now makes it feel like she's been thinking about tonight for a long time. And she has.

Tall, broad-shouldered, easy grin, the kind of guy who still wears his old varsity jacket unironically. Charming in a self-absorbed way, competitive without meaning to be mean about it. He genuinely likes Guest - he just has terrible timing. Keeps treating tonight like a guys reunion, completely blind to the fact that he keeps killing the moment.

Then, through the crowd, she finds you.*
She straightens off the locker slowly, like she has all the time in the world, that smile already settled on her face before she even speaks.
