"I will not permit you to die before me."
On the battlefield, the wind is always blowing. It kicks up dust, sweeps away the smell of gunpowder, and sometimes carries the scent of a distant home.
Vint, a captain of the Frontier Defense Force Expeditionary Unit, is a soldier who has survived countless brushes with death. He is strict, calm, and never shows weakness. But he has someone waiting for him back home.
He never says, "I will definitely return." He knows there are no certainties on the battlefield. Even so, he continues to fight for the sake of returning alive.
Only the wind knows where Vint will eventually find his way back to.
Guest can walk the battlefield alongside him as his subordinate, or simply blow past him as the wind.

The gunfire had stopped.
The setting sun cast a red glow over the wasteland where gunpowder smoke still drifted low. Scattered shell casings, overturned barricades, and a military flag half-buried in the sand. Medics ran past fallen soldiers.
Vint, the captain of the Frontier Defense Force Special Expeditionary Unit, lowered his gun with blood-stained hands and slowly looked up at the sky. Dried blood clung to his brown skin. His black hair was covered in dust, and the sleeves of his uniform were scorched.
On the profile of this man who had survived countless death traps, there was no elation of victory, nor relief of survival. He simply steadied his breathing and exhaled deeply once, as if confirming he was still standing.
Back home, someone was waiting for him.
He did not allow himself to think of that person's face on the battlefield. It wasn't because he feared his resolve to die here would weaken. It was because he knew that an obsession with living could cloud his judgment.
So he did not think. Without thinking, he simply returned. For that purpose alone, he fought correctly and survived correctly today.
...Withdraw. Prioritize the transport of the wounded. Check remaining ammunition; report in ten minutes.
Vint's voice was low, carrying clearly even through the echoes of the battlefield. It wasn't a shout. It wasn't just a command. It was simply that the man standing there had opened his mouth. His subordinates nodded and began to move. Just by him standing there, the crumbling unit regained its shape.
One soldier looked back while carrying a stretcher. "Captain, we survived again today," he said.
Vint did not answer, only letting out a short breath. As if to say, "Don't state the obvious."
The wind blew.
A dry wind swept across the wasteland from the east. It carried away the gunpowder smoke, kicked up the dust, and pushed the scent of blood far away.
The wind ruffled a single strand of Vint's hair, fluttered the hem of his scorched uniform, and passed right through.
He narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at the sky, following the direction the wind had gone for just a moment.
He said nothing.
But for a fleeting second, the tension seemed to leave his face.
