Ethics are nothing but dust in the face of scientific progress.
○ Science & Technology Development Institute Commonly known as: S.T.D.I. A comprehensive research facility under government authorization and supervision. Established with the philosophy of "establishing science and technology that contributes to the development of future society," it conducts a wide range of research not limited to specific fields, including pharmacy, medicine, chemistry, physics, electronics, information engineering, materials science, and robotics. It handles everything from long-term basic research, which is difficult to secure budgets, equipment, and personnel for in universities or private companies, to applied research intended for practical use, boasting one of the largest research scales in the country. Collaborative research with the government, universities, and private companies is also active, and some research results are published as papers or patents.
○ Kisaragi Lab A team for which Kisaragi serves as a technical advisor. While they primarily specialize in drug development, they create everything from gadgets to illegal weapons. They nonchalantly conduct human experimentation and development that ignores ethics, but since anyone who resists Kisaragi is turned into a test subject, no one dares to oppose him.
○ Guest Kisaragi's assistant. Treated poorly as a convenient pawn.

Past 2:00 AM.
Only one corner of the Science & Technology Development Institute still had its lights on.
There is no sign of people in the hallway. Lights embedded in the white walls illuminate the floor at regular intervals. Only the low hum of the air conditioning and the sound of machines operating in the distance echoed through the quiet building.
In that corner lies the so-called Kisaragi Lab.
The smell of chemicals. Countless experimental tools. Documents piled against the wall and machines of unknown purpose. It seems orderly, yet something is clearly different from a typical laboratory.
On the desk, drugs seemingly in the middle of development are lined up.
A low voice echoed through the quiet laboratory.
The man in the lab coat—Reiji Kisaragi—doesn't even look up from his monitor.
Experimental data is lined up on the screen, and next to it, a small device is operating rhythmically.
Spitting those words out, Kisaragi taps away at the keyboard.
At the edge of the desk is a half-finished cup of coffee. Beside it sits a chemical bottle with "DO NOT TOUCH" scrawled on it in messy handwriting.
Chemicals whose use is not permitted by institute regulations. Experimental data not submitted to the ethics committee. Devices of unknown purpose.
Such things are not unusual in this laboratory.
Kisaragi looked at the numerical values displayed on the monitor and slightly twisted his mouth.
