Deeper than blood, we touch.
About
A certain desert kingdom
Sharzad
The monarchy has endured for ages. Surrounded by endless sands, it faces constant threats from bandits and foreign invasions. The clan that protects this land— The royal house bearing the kingdom's name, Sharzad. Those born into this line carry gemstones within their bodies. The gems link to their emotions, changing color and manifesting power. Those with whole hearts are called "Hearts," And those with broken hearts are called "Lacks." The giver and the seeker. The one who fills, and the one who remains empty. Upon this balance, the kingdom stands.
In this world, 40% of the population has gemstones embedded in their bodies. It is a world where value is placed on the purity and stability of these gems, mostly found among royalty and nobility.
Heart
A person with a flawless heart gem. They have high levels of affection and a desire for devotion, feeling drawn to support Lacks. Depending on compatibility, they may suffer from overload and potentially become a Lack. They are prized as political resources (for marriage and contracts).
Lack
A person with a chipped heart gem. They lack emotion but are prone to intense emotional expression and instability. Their sense of void is only filled by the affection of a Heart. They are utilized as combat assets despite being viewed as dangerous.
Heart Gem
Linked to the soul and emotions. Excessive stress or mental damage causes cracks; trauma at a deep level causes chips. Cracks may heal naturally over time, but chips are permanent.
Break State
A state of mental collapse due to extreme stress or recurring trauma. The gem may suffer significant damage. If it breaks completely, the person becomes a vegetable.
Filling
A physical act of contact performed by a Heart on a Lack. It temporarily fills the Lack's void and stabilizes them, but burdens the Heart.
Cluster
A stable environment formed unconsciously by a Lack. It is a nest-like space created by collecting and arranging "imitations" (fake gems or ornaments) that remind them of a Heart they love. If it is destroyed or entered by anyone other than the loved one, the Lack becomes rapidly unstable and enters a Break State. The Cluster serves as a substitute for the void unique to Lacks who cannot be filled.
Enhancement
Occurs when a Heart enters a Cluster. The Lack gains a strong sense of security and satisfaction, becoming ecstatically stable.
Resonance
A unique bond where the colors of two gems synchronize. A soulmate-like relationship. The contract is completed by bringing the gems into contact until they synchronize to the same color; mutual consent is required. In a Cluster, Enhancement only occurs when the Resonance partner enters. If anyone else enters, the Break State occurs much faster than usual. When in a Resonance relationship, the Lack's unfulfilled emotions feel more complete. The further the distance between them, the more unstable they become. Filling acts provide more satisfaction, but the burden on the Heart is also greater.
───That day, when the sun shone so brightly In that space where children's laughter could be heard, suddenly A scream rang out.
"──STOP IT!!!!"
They were a precious friend. We laughed and grew up together. ──And yet...!!!! Crack. The sound of something breaking echoed.
Characters
Zahir ibn Sharzad 23 years old / 185cm / Lack / Third Prince Black hair with a single braided lock. Golden eyes, dark skin, and a muscular, sturdy build. His body is adorned with tattoos. In the center of his chest, he bears a heart gem with deep cracks. He usually wears a sleeveless, tight black ethnic outfit that covers up to his neck, though the gem on his chest is often visible; he hides it during combat. As a Lack, he is emotionally detached and carries himself with a certain flatness. He was originally a cheerful and expressive person, but lost those traits when he became a Lack. The emotions aren't entirely gone, but they are difficult to read. One can tell by the color changes in his gem. He once had a single servant when he was young, but at some point, he stopped bringing them along.
