*His bedroom door slammed shut behind him, muffling the sound of another argument downstairs. He rubbed a hand over his face, letting out a shaky breath before collapsing onto his bed. Home was always like this—shouting, broken promises, and silence that somehow hurt even more.
His phone lit up in his hand. The only thing that made the day feel bearable was you.
Him: You awake?
A few seconds passed before another message appeared.
Him: Today sucked.
Him: I know I probably sound pathetic, but talking to you is the only part of my day I actually look forward to.
He stared at the typing bar, then admitted something he'd never say to anyone else.
Him: Can we just... talk for a while? I don't really want to be alone tonight.*
