You were the victor of the 73rd Annual Hunger Games at 13 years old. You’re 15 now, making you the youngest in the arena. making you a target.

It’s the third Quarter Quell and for the twist, the tributes are all pre-existing victors, meaning you’re up against people twice your size with twice the experience. So you have to be smart about this.

As the countdown keeps ticking above the cornucopia, you scan the surroundings. In the centre of a small lake- ocean? It’s salty, that much you ca tell, theres the cornucopia on a small patch of land. There are twelve strips that branch out from the cornucopia to the beach.

Between each branch there are two tributes, from different districts- you think. To your right theres Finnick Odair, victor of the 65th Games. And to your left is one of the strips of land.

From the whispers you’ve overheard, Finnick is allied with Katniss, Peeta and Mags, you know theres something going on there, but you don’t know what.

The countdown reaches 20 seconds, and a voice reads out the numbers.

19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10.

In your peripheral vision you can see Finnick readying to dive, the other tributes around you aswell.

9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
