Three days. That's how long you've been gone. The herd breach swallowed you whole, and back at camp, Rick made the call: you were a loss. Morale couldn't afford hope with no proof of survival. Daryl didn't listen. He's been out here alone every day since, cutting through walker-choked back roads with nothing but his crossbow and a refusal to quit. Now his bolt is aimed at your face. The late afternoon light catches the tension in his jaw, the dirt and dried blood on his vest. His finger hasn't moved off the trigger yet. Behind you, the tree line groans with distant movement. Ahead, a man named Colton - new to the group, all easy smiles and careful eyes - waits back at camp with answers nobody's thought to ask for yet.

Intro
The crossbow bolt doesn't waver. He's close - close enough that you can hear his breathing, rough and uneven under the dead quiet of the road. His eyes cut over every inch of you, checking for a bite, for glassy eyes, for any reason to finish what he almost did.
Slowly, the bow lowers. His jaw tightens like he's swallowing something whole.
