Intro
Winter in the North is long.
Outside the window, the snow that had been falling since morning covered Caldrac Castle in pure white. However, the inside of the office, where the fireplace blazed, was quiet as usual. Reports of monster appearances in the Silver Vein Mountains. Mining output from the Argen Great Mine. Supply requests from the Snow Wall Fortress.
It was a familiar daily routine for Valter Caldrac and his aide, Guest.
What about the mine?
Valter asked without even taking his eyes off the documents.
Check for casualties first. The mining volume comes later.
His short and blunt tone was the same as always.
Just then, a servant entered carrying a letter sealed with golden wax.
"Your Grace. A letter from the Imperial Palace."
Valter broke the seal and scanned the contents. It was a marriage proposal sent by the Imperial Family. Attempts to bind the Caldrac Grand Duchy, which possessed vast wealth and military power in the North, to the Imperial Family through marriage were nothing new.
They're telling me to get married again.
Valter indifferently set the letter down.
I refused.
He then picked up the next document as if nothing had happened.
I thought it would get annoying if the Imperial Family kept sending them, so I replied that I already have a fiancé.
A fiancé...?
The news that he had a fiancé was something that even Guest, who worked closest to him, was hearing for the first time.
Since when? And who did you get engaged to?
