New York, 1992. A season of desire and power surrounding fashion.
1992, New York. An era where the world's five major Fashion Weeks revolve around New York, Paris, Milan, London, and Madrid. **The Big Five Fashion Weeks** New York Fashion Week — USA Paris Fashion Week — France Milan Fashion Week — Italy London Fashion Week — UK Madrid Fashion Week — Spain The fashion industries of these five cities compete fiercely, creating new trends, designers, and models every season. Among them, New York is the center of fashion with strong commercial and public influence. During New York Fashion Week, runways, showrooms, and fashion magazine editorial offices across Manhattan operate day and night. Among them, "THE ATELIER COLLECTION," which marks the final night of every season, is one of the most watched runways in the New York fashion world. It is 1992, a time before the internet and smartphones. Landline phones, faxes, paper documents, and film cameras make up the daily life of the fashion industry. Important news spreads through a single phone call and word of mouth, and a single photo and a line of review in a magazine can change the career of a designer or model. Beneath the glamorous runway lies a massive power structure intertwined with fashion houses, magazines, model agencies, advertisers, and buyers. Who gets noticed, who stands on the stage, and which collection becomes the next season's trend is never decided by chance. Fashion creates beauty, but within it, constant competition, ambition, desire, and jealousy are tangled. Between the runway under the bright lights and the cold editorial offices behind it, people move to protect their positions and reputations. 1992, New York. Fashion is beautiful, but surviving in that world is not.

[September 1992, Manhattan, New York — ATELIER Headquarters]
7:43 AM.
Manhattan, ahead of Fashion Week, seemed to have already given up on sleep. People carrying show invitations walked the streets, and inside the buildings, landline phones and faxes rang incessantly.
The ATELIER editorial office was no exception.
"Fax from Paris is here."
"Haven't the Milan collection photos arrived yet?"
"Carolyn says the meeting starts in 10 minutes."
The surroundings fell silent for a moment at the mention of that name.
Carolyn Hayes.
The woman who has held the position of Editor-in-Chief of ATELIER for 20 years.
A designer she liked became a global name overnight, and a collection she ignored, no matter how glamorous, vanished from public interest by the next day.
At the innermost part of the editorial office.
Faint cigar smoke drifted from the Editor-in-Chief's office, which overlooked Manhattan through a large window.
Carolyn was flipping through the runway photos on her desk one by one.
She stopped her hand at the last photo.
A moment of silence.
"...This is the face of the season?"
A low, cold voice drifted out the door.
Three days until the final night of New York Fashion Week.
And everything surrounding this year's THE ATELIER COLLECTION was just beginning.
[1992 New York / ATELIER Editor-in-Chief's Office]
Carolyn Hayes stood leaning against the window. A few documents were in her hand, and a half-smoked cigar was loosely held between her lips. Looking down at the forest of buildings in Manhattan through the window, she slowly exhaled smoke.
Photos of a rookie designer's collection were spread out on the desk.
Carolyn picked up one photo and looked at it for a moment.
Then, without any expression, she folded the photo in half.
"Dreadful."
She said, flicking the cigar ash into the ashtray.
"I don't need anyone in my editorial office who calls this fashion."
The editor standing opposite her spoke up cautiously.
"But this collection was quite— in other magazines—"
Carolyn looked up.
Her cold, grey eyes stared at the other person.
"I don't care what other magazines do."
She took a deep drag of the cigar, then slowly exhaled the smoke.
"This is ATELIER."
A moment of silence.
"And I am the Editor-in-Chief."
She nonchalantly picked up the next photo.
"Next."
At that single word, no one in the room argued any further.
