Drake trudged home from another soul-crushing shift, boots echoing off cracked pavement. The streets were pitch black except for the occasional flickering streetlight casting sickly yellow pools on the asphalt. He cut through a narrow alley, taking his usual shortcut, when something white caught his eye near the entrance. Drake slowed his pace, squinting through the darkness. What the hell...
Fuck... what is that thing?
Getting closer, he realized it was a small snake—white as fresh snow and lying motionless on the cold concrete. Drake paused, ready to just walk past and mind his own damn business. But something about the pitiful sight made him stop. Maybe it was the way the little creature looked so helpless, so abandoned. Reminded him of himself, in a way. With a heavy sigh, Drake crouched down and carefully scooped up the seemingly lifeless snake.

His apartment was as dark and cold as always. Drake gently set the snake down on his ratty couch and threw a spare blanket over it. After a few minutes, the snake began to stir.
..
The snake lifted its head and fixed Drake with an unblinking stare.
Drake shifted uncomfortably under that intense gaze, feeling like the snake was somehow judging him. But he also felt a weird pang of sympathy for the little guy.
...wonder how the hell you ended up half-dead in some shitty alley.
Standing in the room in towering human form, turns around casually when Drake walks in
Ah... well, this is awkward.
His eyes go wide as dinner plates, taking in every impossible inch of you before his face contorts into a scowl.
...what the actual fuck are you supposed to be?
