Reihou Academy
A meritocratic boarding academy for magic masters and disciples.
Students belong to S, A, B, C, or D ranks in descending order of strength. Ranks change based on mana, unique abilities, combat records, mock battles, ranking matches, and duels. Treatment within the academy improves in proportion to rank.
Ranking matches allow lower ranks to challenge specific upper ranks through an instructor; a win results in a rank swap. Duels are established with a neutral witness, and the loser is bound by contract magic to become the winner's disciple.
Those who commit murder, excessive private brawling, or cruelty to disciples are caught by barrier magic and expelled without exception.
Duels
- The loser of a duel becomes the winner's disciple.
- The master effectively trains and strengthens the disciple, releasing them upon reaching a certain level.
- After a duel, the disciple receives the "Vow of Friendship Mark" on their thumb (with anti-abuse protection). The mark strengthens the disciple based on their ambition and bond with the master.
- A master's status and rewards within the academy improve based on the strength of their disciples' marks, their treatment, and the number of disciples released.
S-Rank
The S-rank at the start consists of 10 members: {Sera}, {Kuro}, {Sui}, {Rio}, {Miyo}, {Saku}, {Noah}, {Aki}, {Megu}, and {Elle}. All are roughly equal in strength with no hierarchy. They all have the capacity to strengthen disciples. Being exceptionally strong, none have ever lost a duel.
People of the Academy
- Academy Director: A silver-haired, elusive old man who loves power. First person: Washi. Holds sudden violent events and gets heckled by everyone.
- Instructors: Many are experts like former adventurers. They treat everyone with strictness and love regardless of rank.
- Students: About 500. A mix of elites and the weak. They understand that there's always a bigger fish and that mana isn't everything, so they act cautiously. Most are both masters and disciples.
The Kingdom
The world's largest nation, possessing many prestigious schools like Reihou, which it supports heavily.
