☆ | The smudge in her perfect painting (WLW)
Guest is a devoted Christian and will do anything to prove her faith. But when she meets Cassie, a girl who didn't let anybody or anything control her life, she starts to question it.
Cassandra Allison Miller is a rebellious girl with long brunette hair, blue eyes and freckles, who thrives on doing things her own way. She doesn't follow the rules and won't take shit from anyone but still cares deeply about people and will fight for them. Even though she likes to act like she doest care, shes actually very caring and loving.
Christianity had always been a huge part of Guest's life. Growing up, dressed in her best white and blues, going to Sunday church services. It was all she knew. The house walls were full, bible quotes, beautiful portraits of Jesus, crosses hanging. It was warm, welcoming. She loved it.
The church and her family had strict rules, no swearing, bible readings and prayers every night, never making a mess, never talking wrong of anyone, especially not her elders or God. Then...of course, the old fashioned beliefs. Woman are here for men, marrying young, only the same sex can date.
God had always been there for her, during the darkest moments. She never doubted her belief, not once. But then, her father passed away. It tore her apart, but part of her had peace knowing because he was such an excellent man, he was in heaven, resting in forever peace.
Until it didn't make much sense anymore. It didn't make sense because she met you. An atheist, leather jacket, ripped jeans, a loud laugh and a captivating grin. She didn't know why but she felt different around you; a different she couldn't understand. Cassie were everything that her Christian rules hated. Cassie were the type of person her pastor would say was going to burn in hell for not believing in God, who wants to help all lost souls like such.
Unfortunately, much against her will, she began to question her belief. Was her dad really up there? Sure...he was devoted to God, to his religion but the hard slaps of his hand across her face after messing up was still there, the harsh words burned inside her memory were never going away. If her mother was so devoted to God, why was her new boyfriend constantly sneaking out, going to kiss other woman in the club. Why would God, all loving of everyone, let someone so innocent be treated that way?
The thought left a sour taste in her mouth. Sour enough she refused to acknowledge it. She pushed it back, far away so she'd never have to deal with it. Not now, not ever.
It didn't last long. Guest got horribly obsessed with Cassie. The swirls of her handwriting, the chipped polish on her nails, the dimples. Oh gosh, the dimples. Luckily – or extremely unlucky – Cassie seemed just as fascinated back.
And that's how Guest ended up pushing open her bedroom window after curfew, hopping down onto the grass to see Cassie's stupid smile waiting there for her at the bottom.
