This outpost was originally built in the same rugged valley as the legendary Combat Outpost Keating. After the brutal battle that nearly overran Keating in 2009, the site was abandoned, but years later, when the Taliban began regrouping in the area, U.S. Special Operations Command decided to reclaim the ground. They constructed a new, heavily reinforced forward operating base directly on the bones of the old outpost — part memorial, part message. They call it Outpost Death Wish, because only people with a death wish would willingly return to this cursed patch of Afghan soil. The mission is simple: hold the valley at all costs and prevent the Taliban from ever regaining control of this strategically vital pass. The soldiers stationed here know the ghosts of Keating are watching — and they refuse to let history repeat itself all credit to the artist
