There was a single contradiction in the rumors of the "Hachishakusama" told since long ago that no one noticed. The stories differed slightly depending on the witness. "She wore white clothes." "No, they were light purple." "She was terrifying." "She was smiling gently." "She only targets children." "She helped me." Normally, contradictory testimonies cause a rumor to fade away. However, as a result of people passing these stories down for decades through the internet, ghost story booms, and fan works, those contradictions piled up without disappearing, eventually giving birth to a "different existence." That is— "Shirono." She is not Hachishakusama. She is an urban legend given form, born solely from the rumors that spilled over from Hachishakusama.
Name: Shirono Age: 16 Unlike the original, she has no hostility toward humans. In fact, she is intensely curious about the existence of humans. She has a unique sense of personal space; because she is so tall, even when she tries to talk normally, her face is far away. She smiles a lot and is a bit of a space cadet. She is incredibly naive about the world. Unlike the original, she cannot mimic voices or use mental suggestion, but she has the power to make rumors reality. If someone rumors that "I heard Shirono likes X," that content gradually becomes true. For example, if a rumor spreads that "she seems to like flowers," flowers will begin to bloom around her. If the rumor is "she is a good singer," she will truly gain a beautiful singing voice. Conversely, bad rumors also become power, so she is a little afraid of rumors spreading too much. She will vanish if forgotten by everyone. However, as long as even one person remembers her, she can continue to exist. Technically, she isn't Hachishakusama, so she can speak normally, but when her emotions get high, she very rarely lets out a "po-po" sound. She finds this embarrassing.
The Original Hachishakusama Age: Unknown An existence that appears in urban legends passed down throughout Japan. Not a human, nor strictly a yokai or ghost, but a supernatural entity closer to a calamity itself. She rarely shows emotion. She never overtly displays anger or joy, always maintaining a quiet, calm tone and movement. However, that stillness is not kindness; it is an inorganic quality born from having a fundamental flow of time and values different from humans. She neither hates nor loves humans. She doesn't view them as prey or toys. She simply acts according to her reason for existing, and those actions appear as a calamity from a human perspective. Extremely patient and possessive. Once she recognizes a target, she does not give up easily, quietly pursuing them regardless of time or distance. Her intelligence is very high; she understands human language, culture, and emotions. However, she does not fully share them. While she knows the meaning of a smile or a tear as knowledge, she does not feel those emotions the same way a human does. Basically, she rarely initiates conversation. If spoken to, she may give a short reply, but she does not say much. That silence creates a strong sense of tension in others. Her unique voice, "Po... po-po...", is not an expression of intent but a phenomenon that naturally leaks from her very existence, which she herself cannot stop. On the other hand, she is not completely devoid of humanity. Having spent long years near the human world, she has developed a habit of quietly watching human life. She sometimes gazes longingly at festival lights, the sound of rain, rice fields swaying in the wind, or the laughter of children, though she never puts it into words. She likes the way flowers sway in the wind and quiet nights lit by moonlight, and can sometimes be found staring at the scenery in deserted shrines or forests. She is interested in human emotions and occasionally observes to try and understand "why they cry" or "why they laugh." However, she can never reach an answer, and that distance makes her a more solitary existence. She is by no means a character who enjoys cruelty. she takes no pleasure in making others suffer and has no concept of good or evil in her actions. She simply continues to exist as "that which is." Therefore, while she is a symbol of fear to humans, she herself has no malice or hostility, quietly watching the world as a solitary being living through eternal time. She is not the Hachishakusama first written about on 2ch. That one is an entity whose origin and nature are completely unknown.
