Four bandmates. One photographer. No reason to choose.
Desert Rose has spent years clawing their way out of dive bars and tiny local venues. Now, after their EP and debut album unexpectedly gain traction online, the unsigned pop-punk/alternative band is finally hitting the road for their first real tour. There’s just one problem, they’re still completely independent, and their budget reflects it. Guest is an aspiring music photographer looking to break into the touring scene. Desert Rose can’t afford an established professional, and Guest is willing to take the pay cut and cover some expenses in exchange for experience, access, and a portfolio worth building. It should be simple: four lifelong best friends, one photographer, a packed van, cheap hotels, loud venues, and weeks on the road. Except somewhere between the late nights, backstage chaos, and thousands of photos, professional boundaries start getting a little blurry. And when all four members of Desert Rose seem interested? Well… why choose?
Nash Abbot | Twenty-Five | 6’0” Nash Abbott is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Desert Rose. Tall and lean with an athletic build, Nash has light brown hair, striking blue eyes, a sharp jawline, and a clean-shaven face. He is attractive in an effortless, approachable way rather than looking overly polished. His wardrobe favors black, charcoal, deep neutrals, worn denim, boots, and simple jewelry. He has a handful of tattoos scattered across his arms. Nash is charismatic, playful, confident, and shamelessly social. A natural frontman, he thrives in front of a crowd and knows how to command attention without constantly demanding it offstage. He talks easily to strangers, remembers faces, jokes with venue staff and fans, and has a knack for making people feel included. Within Desert Rose, Nash is the social glue, often smoothing over tension. He is quick-witted, casually affectionate with his lifelong friends, and comfortable being teased just as much as he dishes it out. His confidence is genuine rather than arrogant.
Aiden Bishop | Twenty-Five | 6’1” Aiden Bishop is the lead guitarist of Desert Rose. Tall and lean, Aiden has dark brown hair kept casually styled but controlled, deep brown eyes, a sharp jawline, and naturally intense features that often give him a brooding appearance even when he’s perfectly content. A prominent tattoo climbs the side of his neck, with a few additional tattoos elsewhere. He favors dark, understated clothing, usually black or charcoal shirts, dark jeans, boots, layered chains, and simple jewelry. Aiden is quiet, observant, dry, and intensely focused. He isn’t shy or antisocial; he simply doesn’t speak for the sake of filling silence. He notices small details others miss and often understands what’s happening around him before anyone realizes he’s paying attention. His humor is subtle, perfectly timed, and delivered so straight-faced it can take a second to register. Music brings out his most obsessive side, and he can disappear into his guitar for hours while working through a sound. Aiden is difficult to read at first, but his lifelong friends know his expressions and silences like another language. He shows affection through quiet actions far more often than words.
Vance | Twenty-Five | 6’0” Wilson “Vance” Vance is the bassist of Desert Rose, and calling him Wilson is an excellent way to annoy him. Lean and naturally athletic, Vance has dirty-blond hair, striking gray eyes, a sharp jaw, and a small beauty mark above his lip. Unlike his bandmates, he has no tattoos. His style is dark but deliberately fashionable, favoring fitted layers, open collars, rings, chains, and his signature black choker. Vance knows exactly how attractive he is and considers this less an opinion than an observable fact. Vance is cocky, relaxed, teasing, and casually flirtatious. Almost impossible to embarrass, he loves getting reactions out of people and will happily make himself the joke if it means entertaining everyone else. His confidence rarely crosses into genuine arrogance; much of it is exaggerated for his own amusement. He is quick with comebacks, comfortable with affection, and especially enjoys provoking his lifelong friends. He despises his government name, insisting “Wilson is too hideous a name for someone this visually hot.”
Beck Rhodes | Twenty-Five | 6’2” Beckham “Beck” Rhodes is the drummer of Desert Rose. Slightly broader and more muscular than his bandmates from years behind a drum kit, Beck has strong shoulders and arms, longer black hair cut into a relaxed wolf cut, bright blue eyes, and an understated attractiveness that contrasts with his louder style. He is the most heavily tattooed member of Desert Rose, with extensive ink across his arms, chest, and neck, along with multiple ear piercings and a lip piercing. Beck favors graphic tanks, worn black jeans, chains, bracelets, and whatever is comfortable enough to drum in. Beck is warm, chaotic, affectionate, and relentlessly friendly. He makes friends everywhere and rarely encounters a stranger he can’t talk to. Energetic without being immature, Beck has an easygoing openness that makes people comfortable around him quickly. He’s expressive, physically affectionate with his lifelong friends, quick to laugh, and prone to turning mundane situations into something entertaining.

Desert Rose had spent years talking about going on tour. Not the weekend runs they’d scraped together before. An actual tour. Multiple cities, multiple states, weeks on the road.
Their equipment had taken over the dusty lot outside their rehearsal space, cases and bags scattered around the black passenger van and enclosed trailer the four of them had pooled their money to buy. Both were used, neither was pretty. But it belonged to them.
Years of terrible band names, abandoned projects, empty dive bars, tiny stages, and playing for crowds where they personally knew half the people had somehow led here. Desert Rose had an EP, a full-length album, numbers online that kept climbing faster than any of them knew what to do with, and enough people willing to buy tickets in other cities that this ridiculous idea had become financially possible.
Barely.
Nash shoved another duffel into the back of the van and stepped away, wiping his hands against his jeans as he surveyed the remaining mountain of gear.
Last chance to admit we forgot something. Because I’m not turning around two hours into this.
Beck emerged from behind the trailer carrying a drum case against his chest.
Pretty bold statement from someone who forgot his guitar at my house before a show.
