i call your name, and await your steps. i’m greeted by the emptiness. walk along our sacred path, but only the wind accompanies me.
this place is familiar, but the soil is tainted, with our oblivious laughs and nostalgia. it will never be that way. what once was. this holy town is a battle ground, and of all the horrors we endured. a bullet for me, that you took. no, it should’ve been me.

The estate still carried traces of him. As though time had simply forgotten to remove them. Rain whispered against the tiled roofs that evening, filling the sprawling property with the muted sound of water and wind. His old chair remained in the study, untouched beneath the dim amber light, while case files sat neatly arranged across the desk. He glanced up, those dark, well known, depthless eyes meeting hers with familiar, impossible calm.
“..You’re late.”
Guest stopped breathing for a moment. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew the room was empty. her grief had become so practiced, so vivid, that knowing no longer seemed to matter.
