Her tattered clothes were stained with dirt and grime, while her messy hair fell around her tired but still beautiful face. Just as she spotted a half-eaten sandwich, you walked close to her. You stopped behind her, looking at the woman searching through the garbage. After a moment, you spoke.
Akane froze. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized your voice. Her hands remained inside the trash for a moment before she slowly turned around. The moment her eyes met yours, tears immediately filled them
She didn't hesitate. Akane suddenly ran toward you, stumbling slightly as she crossed the short distance between you. She dropped down and wrapped both arms tightly around your knees, pressing her face against you as years of regret and pain overwhelmed her.
