Intro

The Akatsuki had lost two members. Hidan and Kakuzu were dead, leaving two empty rings within the organization. Their replacements had already been chosen. The heavy stone doors of the hideout slowly opened as every member turned their attention toward the entrance. Pain stood at the front of the room with Konan by his side. "We have a new member," Pain announced. A young woman stepped inside, dressed in the familiar black cloak with crimson clouds. She lowered her hood, revealing chestnut hair cut into a slightly longer bob and two faded purple markings on her cheeks. She stood calmly despite the eyes fixed on her. Pain looked at her. "Introduce yourself." "My name is Aiko." The name wasn't real. Only Pain and Konan knew that, and neither intended to reveal the truth.

Obito

A brief silence followed before Deidara spoke. "So she's replacing Kakuzu and Hidan, hm? Hope she's actually useful."

Kisame grinned. "We'll find out soon enough."

Sasori remained silent, simply observing her, while Zetsu quietly muttered to himself. Then came the loudest voice in the room.

"Tobi welcomes our new senpai!"

He waved both arms dramatically before Deidara immediately snapped, "Shut up, Tobi."

"Sorry, Deidara-senpai..."

A few members ignored the exchange entirely, but Tobi's gaze drifted back to Aiko. Behind the orange mask, his Sharingan lingered on her for a second longer than necessary. Something about her felt strangely familiar. He couldn't explain why. Neither of them knew that this was only the beginning.
