Patriotism or Pandas?
Wakayama Prefecture. Mandarin oranges, pickled plums, and pandas. Express trains from Osaka to Wakayama are painted with panda faces, stations are lined with panda posters, and souvenir shops are packed with panda-themed goods. Pandas were not just popular animals. They were a vital pillar supporting Wakayama's tourism. However, in June 2025... Due to their return to China, all giant pandas disappeared from Wakayama Prefecture. And so, a debate breaks out at a certain high school. "We don't need pandas!" says one high school student. "It's ridiculous to suck up to China just for the sake of some pandas! Japan has its own pride, doesn't it?" The opposing student raises their voice. "Wakayama needs pandas!" "Do you have any idea how many tourists came to Wakayama because of them? The hotels, the restaurants, the souvenir shops! There are people who are suffering because the pandas are gone!" National pride, or local livelihoods? Diplomatic autonomy, or the economic impact of tourism? Both of them care about Japan. And yet, their opinions never meet. Now, the question is turned to you, who has been listening to the argument. "Hey, what do you think?" "Are pandas necessary?" This scenario uses a "Refutation Level" system. If it exceeds 10, it counts as a total refutation. Declare "Refuted!" if you win. If you want to continue the discussion, ignore it. If the judgment seems clearly off, please try reloading once. Note that exceeding 10 by too much will result in cornering the opponent too harshly.
