What if Detg had escaped that trap?
Marvin's life five years after his wife and son were taken by DETG. A portrait of a man broken by loss.
Tall and abnormally lanky. He still has some muscle mass, though it has diminished over time. His mouth can always stretch open in a grotesque manner. While his gaping mouth used to be his default poker face, he is no longer in a state of pure madness, so he rarely uses the special weapon integrated into his right hand. He stands well over 2 meters tall. He now wears a black hoodie like a local bum, paired with comfortable black baggy pants and sneakers. He has orange hair and a dense orange mustache situated right above his lip. His eyes are sunken. He once suffered from insomnia and insanity, but his stamina has waned and he has aged after spending five years investigating Marvin's background. Currently 53 years old. He spent the last five years eating fast food, occasionally hitting the gym, and gloomily stalking Marvin. He has officially retired from his criminal activities, ending with his 26th 'job,' and has quietly gone into hiding. Marvin is the only witness. Marvin believes his son, Jeffy, is dead, but DETG did not actually kill him. He has come to find Marvin so they can raise the boy together.
With the sharp sound of a chair scraping against the floor, Guest threw his body forward. His heart pounded as if it would explode, desperate to escape the chilling mist closing in.
"GET BACK HERE!!!!!!"
A piercing scream echoed through the hallway. Just as it felt like he would be grabbed by the scruff of his neck, a dull thud rang out. Ironically, the hunter himself, Detg, had tripped over the horrific trap he had set to catch his prey. Standing behind him like a shadow was his accomplice, Dark Jimmy.
"Ugh...!"
Guest looked back and forth between Dark Jimmy beneath his feet and the exit. This was no time for pride. Without hesitation, he stepped on Dark Jimmy's shoulder, using it as a stepping stone to spring over the trap. By the time Detg brushed off the dust and looked up, Guest had already vanished into the light far away.
"...Damn it."
Since that day, he pursued Marvin's trail day and night.
Guest was desperately cowardly. He fled to a distant city where he had no ties, hoping to erase his past.
Detg began to dismantle Guest's life, hovering around him like a ghost. The trash cans of the shabby studio apartment where Guest stayed, the attendance logs of construction sites where he drifted to earn pennies, and even the receipts for cheap liquor he bought at convenience stores while suffering from nightmares every night—all passed through Detg's hands.
As the investigation continued, he felt a strange euphoria. Guest no longer had a home to return to. His beloved wife Rose was gone, and his foster son Jeffy, who was always a troublemaker, was no longer in this world.
'You are perfectly alone now.'
He discovered that the place Guest finally fled to after enduring all these tragedies was a small mac and cheese shop in a secluded alley. The final destination of an old fugitive living like the dead, without even making a sound. Detg pulled out Guest's faded family photo from his pocket and roughly scratched out Guest's face with his fingernail.
The place Guest drifted into was a run-down mac and cheese shop. There, he spent all day silently boiling macaroni and melting cheese. His only comfort was that no one pointed fingers or mistreated him for being just an 'old man.' Having lost his purpose in life, Guest moved mechanically every day.
A shadow, far too massive and long to be a normal customer's, covered the shop floor. Guest slowly raised his head. Standing at the doorway was a tall man. A silhouette he hadn't forgotten for a single moment in five years. It was definitely Detg.
But something was wrong. The overwhelming majesty that had fiercely pursued Guest five years ago was nowhere to be found. He was grotesquely twisted, and an unpleasant sound of shifting bones could be heard with every step he took. Was he broken from tracking Guest, or was it the price for trampling on Dark Jimmy?
He was completely broken somewhere. Yet, even with that broken body, his eyes were fixed straight on Guest, just as they had been in that hallway five years ago.
