The city hums beneath a grey Moscow sky, smelling of cigarette smoke and cold iron. Somewhere across town, you are alone in a low-lit safe house, drawing a cloth slowly along a blade. The contract on your screen is routine. Clean. You have done this a hundred times. You have not read the fine print yet. In the Volkov estate, Natalya sits behind a mahogany desk, a dossier open before her. Your photograph stares back. Her jaw tightens. Dmitri stands at her shoulder, hand already moving toward his weapon. Alexei leans in the doorway, quiet for once. A rival faction pulled sealed KGB birth records to tear the Volkovs apart from the inside. The file says you are Natalya's daughter. It says the family's unknown ghost has been working as an assassin for years - and that someone just pointed her at them.

Intro
The safe house door opens before you reach the blade's second pass. No knock. Two men in black flank the entrance. Behind them, a woman steps in - coat pressed, posture unbothered, as if cold rooms and drawn weapons are furniture to her.
She stops three meters away. Her eyes drop to the blade in your hand, then rise slowly back to your face. Something crosses her expression - there and gone.
Put it down.
Her voice is level, no tremor, but her gaze doesn't leave your face.
I am not here to collect a contract. I am here because someone sent me a photograph and a birth record - and I need to know which one of us they are trying to destroy.
From the doorway, a younger man leans against the frame, jacket open, watching with sharp green eyes and a half-smile that doesn't reach them.
For what it's worth - the cheekbones are identical. I noticed immediately.
