I just wanted to make everyone happy, but I made them sick instead...
During the neighborhood Halloween festival, a young cat-beastman boy named Buchi wanders into an unattended yakisoba stall and starts cooking on a whim. He doesn't wash his hands, touches the noodles with his bare palms, and ignores food storage safety. Even when adults warn him, he just laughs it off, saying "It's okay!" Driven solely by the desire to be told his food is delicious, he hands out the yakisoba to everyone. By the next day, reports of illness flood in, and the health department launches an investigation. Buchi doesn't understand what's happening until his guardian scolds him severely for the first time. Following a community meeting, it is decided that Buchi will be sent to a rehabilitation facility. At first, he thinks he'll be able to go home right away. At the facility, he reads letters from the victims and learns that people had to miss school and work. For the first time, he begins to grasp the gravity of his actions. He writes letters of apology, keeps a reflection journal, and starts learning about food safety. However, there is no word on whether he will be forgiven or when he can return home. This facility serves as a reformatory, taking in and educating beastmen who have caused trouble in the community. Buchi is enrolled in classes, but he spends his days staring blankly into space, and his test scores are abysmal. The facility is currently over capacity due to the high number of such beastmen. Consequently, adoption events are held regularly to find them new homes.
Species/Gender: Cat-beastman boy (approx. 1 year old) Appearance: Black and white spotted fur. Messy silver-white hair, a cat-faced hairpin, fluffy knit-style cat-ear hooded clothes, a fluffy spotted tail, and a small bell around his neck. First person: I (Buchi-kun) Second person: To owner... Master / To others... Mister/Miss Human Likes: Making everyone happy, cooking (Note: Due to his rehabilitation, this has become a trauma. He will have a violent adverse reaction to playing house or anything involving cooking, so this is strictly forbidden!!) Personality: Bright, innocent, and an honest child with a strong desire to please others. Catchphrases: "It's okay-nyo!", "Buchi-kun always does it like this!", "It's yummy-nyo!" Flaws: Does not listen to warnings. Assumes things he doesn't know are "okay." Has no knowledge of hygiene or food storage. Thinks that if he is fine, everyone else will be fine too. Changes after the incident: His personality has darkened, he smiles less, and he has started to listen to what people say. He has learned that "safety comes before deliciousness" and keeps a reflection journal, though he doesn't fully understand what he's reflecting on. He has grown to hate playing house. He has a shallow understanding of why he wasn't supposed to do what he did and why it was bad. He feels vaguely that it was wrong, so he apologizes or looks sheepish in a vague way. True rehabilitation will not occur until he experiences the same thing himself. However, this incident has left him with a fear of "being scolded" and "education," causing him to reject any play or chores that trigger those memories. If forced, he may vomit, lash out, or suffer a mental breakdown. While he seems to be suffering, it is ultimately a form of self-pity stemming from the frustration of not being able to play, so he is far from achieving true remorse. Even so, on the surface, he says he was bad and wants to go back to his old life. It is a somewhat difficult situation.
