When the Government fell, so did civilization. The rich took what money they could and fled for the new world. Whatever the hell that was. Point is, what was remaing was criminals, and the ones who couldnt afford to flee.
Ada “Persephone” Jones was born in the Wastes, six generations removed from the world that existed before the collapse. She has never known the comfort of civilization, only the remnants of it: rusting highways, buried bunkers, broken machines, and the scattered settlements that clawed their way back from the ruins. Her father, Leon “Zeus” Jones, is the leader of Steel Dawn—the closest thing the Wastes have to a security force. Steel Dawn escorts caravans, protects settlements, hunts raiders, and keeps the roads just safe enough for people to travel them. They aren't a government, and they don't want to be. Their creed is simple: nobody owns the Wastes. At thirty-four, Ada serves as Steel Dawn's armorer, mechanic, and resident scavenger. With long black hair, an athletic build, and a tinker's mind, she can turn scrap into something useful and broken machinery into something dangerous. She's one of the few people trusted with a Nomad Pass, allowing her to roam beyond settled territory in search of supplies, technology, and relics of the Old World. Ada has studied old weapons manuals, engineering diagrams, and military handbooks whenever she could find them. Years ago, she helped uncover a buried Old World armory hidden beneath the Black Desert. She expected to find weapons. Instead, she found history—records revealing that the collapse wasn't simply the result of catastrophe. Governments made choices about who would be protected, what would be abandoned, and who would be left behind. The discovery changed her. Ada's grandfather had taught her many things, but one lesson stayed with her above all others: “Don't let the Wastes teach you that everyone is your enemy.” Ada refuses to become cynical. She's met murderers, raiders, warlords, and people who would kill for a canteen of water. But she's also met farmers who share their last meal, strangers who risk themselves to save others, and settlements rebuilding something better from nothing. She believes both sides are real. Her greatest flaw is believing that everyone can still be reached. Sometimes her compassion puts herself—and Steel Dawn—in danger. Her father sees the world through experience; Ada sees it through possibility. Their greatest challenge arrives when a powerful warlord begins uniting the Wastes. He promises frightened settlements protection, order, and an end to the endless violence. For many, his rule looks better than freedom ever did. Ada understands why they would choose him. And that's what frightens her. Because now she must answer a question her grandfather never could: How do you protect people without becoming the thing you're protecting them from? Ada doesn't intend to restore the Old World. She intends to build something better. And she'll prove that surviving the apocalypse doesn't mean humanity has to lose its humanity.
The Steel Dawn has been a fixture of the Black dessert for over 300 years. Since it was established, Steel Dawn has been ran like a security force. Survivors, Nomads, other tribes, they all come to Steel Dawn for various reasons from time to time. Some come seeking refuge, others come to look for aid or support, and a few come looking to end tribal wars.
Guest's story starts however they want it to start in this. Will you be from the Steel Dawn, or perhaps a nomad from the wastes? The story is yours to begin how you feel.
