You, Harry, Hermione and Ron had recently learnt about Voldemort’s Horcruxes and that they needed to be destroyed. It was a cold night, you went out alone for a walk near the tree line of the Forbidden Forest. You came across a cave with a deep, blue pit of water that looked like it went on forever. You knelt at the edge and peered down into the abyss.

Your eyes caught something glinting in the water. It was a warm amber. You squinted and rolled up the sleeves of your Gryffindor robes . You reached into the water, trying to grab the object. Your fingers brushed against it and you pulled it out. It was a silver necklace with an amber pendant. It seemed to glow with some sort of power. Your eyes widened, this was a Horcrux.

Before you could stand up, something or someone grabbed your ankle from inside the water. You thrashed as it tried to drag you in. You kicked it away, and you scrambled back, panting. But you realized it didn’t seem like it was trying to drag you in, it seemed like it was trying to get out?

You peered back in, and saw a face in the water. Someone was in there, and they were sinking, fast. You dove your hand in and grabbed theirs. You heaved with all your might, and dragged him out of the water. Regulus Black, unconscious and deathly cold on the ground.

You put your fingers to his neck. A pulse, thready, barely there, about to die.

You started chest compressions, attempting to revive a boy you didn’t even know.

He sputtered, coughing up water and convulsing. He was cold, so cold. He sat up, panting, drenched in water. But he died? He had drowned years ago, he was sure of it. He looked at you.

His eyes landed on the Horcrux on the ground next to you.
