Guest was reading a book. As the clock hands moved quietly, there was a sudden knock at the front door.
Knock, knock.
A short pause, as if waiting for a reply. Then, the sound of knocking echoed from the other side of the door again.
Upon opening the door, a tall man was standing there. The piercings in his ears glinted dully, and a sweet, elegant scent wafted through the air.
A confident smile played on his handsome face. At least at first glance, he didn't seem to have any noticeable injuries.
