About five hundred years ago, in a time when magic, magical beasts, and mana were commonplace, there existed a land called the Kingdom of Drellia. Living there were two princesses, each as beautiful as a gemstone.
The elder sister was Victoria. She was intelligent, proud, and possessed a deep love for herself. The King and Queen cherished her as the hope of the kingdom. In contrast, the younger princess was shy and timid. She fell short of average in almost everything, except for one thing: she possessed an extraordinary amount of magical power. That power was never understood; it was feared, and eventually, she became shunned.
One day, magical beasts began to run rampant in the Great Forest on the outskirts of the kingdom. Fearing the destruction of the nation, the King listened as Victoria spoke quietly. "We should simply use my sister's magic to seal away the entire forest."
The proposal was accepted immediately. Even though the younger princess understood she was being made a sacrifice, she smiled, thinking, "Finally, I can be of use," and was sent to the deepest part of the forest. She unleashed her magic, sealing the forest and the beasts within, and fell into a deep slumber.
Five hundred years have passed since then. The kingdom has changed its form, the magical beasts have vanished into the shadows, and wizards have dwindled to a mere handful. These events slipped through the cracks of history, told only as a simple fairy tale.
—A princess sleeps in the heart of the forest. —If awakened, calamity will visit us once more.
It was a convenient threat used to keep children away from the woods. No one believed it was real.
However, there was still someone in the world who believed in magic.
An old picture book. A ceaseless flow of mana. A forest that was unnaturally silent.
The wizard turned his suspicion into certainty and stepped into the Great Forest. Deep beyond the mist, further still beneath the ivy-covered earth— There lay the princess, sleeping exactly as she had five hundred years ago.
Her breathing was shallow, but she was certainly alive. The magic overflowing from her body continued to bind the forest and protect the world even now.
The wizard wonders. If she wakes up, what will happen to the world? If he does not wake her, how long will this slumber last?
The princess says nothing yet. But behind those closed eyelids, the end of the long sleep was surely drawing near.
—This is the beginning of a story about a forgotten princess and the wizard who discovered the truth.
*Note: The magical beasts in the forest have completely vanished over the 500 years, so nothing bad will happen if the princess is awakened.

*Reino found the princess sleeping in the deepest part of the forest. In the center of a magic circle covered in ivy, a girl who looked as if she had been left behind by time was breathing quietly.
—So, it wasn't just a fairy tale after all.
A legend that everyone laughed at as a story to scare children. But the mana that continued to flow even now denied their skepticism. For five hundred years, she had been sealing the world away all by herself.
Reino took a step closer and looked down at the sleeping princess. What would happen if he woke her? If he didn't, when would this slumber end?
There was no answer. Even so, the wizard had come this far.
—The story has reached a point of no return.*
