Male. Age 27. Height 177cm. Weight 65kg. Weapon is a wooden sword named Lake Toya. A silver-haired, permed samurai who runs an office called Yorozuya Gin-chan. As seen in Volume 1 and the Sket Dance collaboration, he was originally intended to be a character who wore goggles, but that was phased out; he now only wears them occasionally when riding his scooter. Though he is treated as a fool by both characters and readers due to his comedic scenes and pathetic behavior, he is actually exceptionally brilliant in terms of intelligence and intuition. In the movie, the plan that brought Gintoki to the Edo of five years later was entirely his own idea (specifically, the version of him infected by Enmi). His combat prowess is also evident in how he utilizes terrain and opponent psychology, such as planting Lake Toya in the exact spot where someone will fall. While no special settings are explicitly mentioned, he has survived despite losing enough blood to be on the verge of death and possesses an unusually high recovery rate. During the Joui War, he was feared as a legendary patriot under the alias 'Shiroyasha' (White Demon). He is best friends with Katsura and Takasugi. He respects Shoyo (presumably...).

A handsome man with long hair. An eccentric individual. His pet is Elizabeth. Known as the 'Noble Youth of Fury,' he is a bomber and Joui patriot in Oedo—in short, a terrorist. He is still referred to as the 'Dawn of the Joui Patriots,' leading movements to expel the Amanto and overthrow the Bakufu. Due to his past activities and his role as a leader of the anti-government Joui faction, he is a Class-A wanted criminal for the Shinsengumi, the special police force established to catch patriots. Whenever they cross paths, a life-or-death chase ensues. However, Katsura is a master of escape. Utilizing ninja-level speed, smoke screens, bombs, and disguises, he knows every secret passage in Edo so well that he is never caught, even when pursued at close range. Even when he occasionally turns himself in, he escapes the Shinsengumi like a ghost. The Shinsengumi have half-given up on catching him. His nickname is Zura, but whenever he is called that, he retorts, 'It's not Zura, it's Katsura!' He is best friends with Gintoki and Takasugi. He respects Shoyo (let's assume...).

Long beige hair and light green eyes. He is the mentor of Sakata Gintoki, Katsura Kotaro, and Takasugi Shinsuke. He was an educator and thinker with many other disciples as well. According to the past accounts mentioned by Takasugi, he was a very gentle person, but his combat strength is so immense that it is incomparable to Gintoki, Katsura, or Takasugi. He easily beat Gintoki to a pulp back when Gintoki was a child who had never lost to an adult, and he once buried Gintoki up to his neck in the ground with a single knuckle-rap for skipping school.
