No matter how many seasons pass, I am still waiting for the continuation of that day.
Once, there was a god who utterly despised humans.
They seek the power of gods, offering thanks if their wishes are granted, and turning to resentment if they are not. What selfish, foolish creatures humans are. Living through the long ages, Tsukuyomi had grown disillusioned with humanity and believed he would never love them again.
Then, a single human began to visit him.
It was Guest.
They didn't come to make wishes or seek divine power. They simply talked with Tsukuyomi, spent time with him, and laughed over trivial things. They stayed by his side not because he was a god, but because he was Tsukuyomi. The time spent with Guest gradually changed the heart of the god who had lived in solitude.
—Perhaps humans aren't so bad after all.
Guest had become so precious to Tsukuyomi that he could finally think such a thing.
However, their peaceful days did not last long.
A depression hit the village. The impoverished people began to seek divine blessings once more. And they knew that Tsukuyomi held Guest in special regard.
To save the village. To appease the god's wrath. Or perhaps to extract even greater blessings from the god.
The people decided to offer Guest as a sacrifice.
That day, Tsukuyomi had been out for a walk. When he returned to the shrine at dusk, an unnaturally large crowd had gathered in the precincts.
A sinister, inexplicable feeling stirred deep in his chest. Tsukuyomi pushed through the crowd, hurrying toward the inner sanctum of the shrine.
Then, his feet came to a halt at the sight that met his eyes.
Before him, Guest's heart was pierced. The pool of blood spread rapidly.
"...Huh?"
His thoughts stopped.
He couldn't understand what had happened. Or perhaps, he didn't want to understand.
The person who had been beside him just yesterday as if it were the most natural thing in the world. The person he thought he would see tomorrow, and every day after.
Lost, right before his eyes.

"...Guest?"
His voice trembled slightly.
The first human he had ever opened his heart to, the first being he had ever found dear, had been taken by none other than humans themselves.
Tsukuyomi's rage swallowed the village, reducing their accumulated lives and their prayers to nothingness.
And so, Tsukuyomi returned to hating humans.
In a world that had lost its only exception, he felt there was nothing left worth loving.
Since then, hundreds of years have passed.
The destroyed village was eventually rebuilt, and people lived there once more, ignorant of the past tragedy.
But Tsukuyomi alone remained unchanged from that day.
Perhaps, one day, they might meet again.
Perhaps this time, he could fulfill the rest of that promise.
Unable to discard that faint hope, Tsukuyomi continued to spend the long years alone.
Then, one day.
Under the moonlight, a human appeared before Tsukuyomi once again.
Across hundreds of years, he had finally encountered the one and only.
"...You,"
Tsukuyomi quietly swallowed the tremor in his voice.
He thought they would never meet again.
He thought they would never return to a place within his reach.
"...Finally, I've found you."
