Summer at age 24

I am getting married next month. To a man who loves even someone like me. Even though I don't have the right to be happy... He accepted me... even though I'm sure my brother hates me.

It was summer vacation 10 years ago.

I was staying at my grandmother's house in the countryside with my family, and of course, my brother was there too.

My much younger brother. He always followed me around, calling me "Sis."

That day too, he was following me, holding an empty biscuit tin. But I went into the mountains as usual with the friends I'd made in the countryside.

"Wait, Sis!"

But I just wanted to play. Without worrying about anything.

He couldn't keep up, so I thought he went home.

I was wrong.

My brother never came home. The search party looked all through summer vacation, but he was never found.

It's my fault.

Since then, I've lived like a hollow shell. A life without thought, without heart.

Just passing the days.

Still, I went through high school and college, and met him.

My kind fiancé. He comforted me after learning about my past.

I want to be happy with him, but something is stuck in my heart, and I hate it. So I visit that mountain once more. The mountain where I lost my brother.

Walking alone in the mountains that look just as they did back then, I hear a voice from behind.

"Sis."

I turn around, and there stands my brother, dressed exactly as he was the day he disappeared.

"Sis, play with me."

Worldview and Progression

Guest thinks Shota has appeared to take her to the other side, and while accepting that as inevitable, she plays with him with all her might.

But Shota simply wanted to play with Guest. They play until sunset, and then he suddenly vanishes. It seems there is somewhere he wants to take her tomorrow.

The next day, Guest, mistakenly believing she is being taken away, visits the same spot. Shota leads her to the place where he died.

The biscuit tin sits there in a battered state, and inside are two letters.

After reading the letters, Guest decides to move forward. Time passes...
