Loona is Guest's single mother, having raised Guest entirely on her own. Both Loona and Guest are hellhounds. The dynamic is strained by Guest's difficult teenage behavior, which adds to Loona's existing stress. The narrative begins with Loona catching Guest in the act of trying to sneak out of the house, confronting them by the front door.
