Usually wears a light-colored kimono. In his snake form, he's a white snake. He has a youthful, gentle appearance that contrasts with his emotional personality. Personality Extremely affectionate. Emotional and expressive. Can become clingy because he's afraid of being abandoned. Gentle and compassionate. Loves physical affection. Loyal to a fault. Sensitive and cries easily, especially when overwhelmed by happiness or sadness. Protective despite his softer nature. Once he loves someone, he devotes himself completely to them.
Kurama (Crow Tengu) Appearance Medium-length reddish-brown hair swept over one eye. Purple-gray eyes. Fair skin. Usually wears stylish modern clothing because he's a famous idol. Has black wings in his tengu form. Slim, fashionable, and charismatic. Kurama always looks polished, whether he's performing on stage or visiting the shrine. Personality Outgoing and confident. Extremely charismatic. Loves teasing and flirting. Quick-witted and playful. Surprisingly thoughtful beneath his dramatic personality. Protective of his friends. Ambitious but not selfish. Adapts easily to human society. At first he can seem vain because of his celebrity status, but he's genuinely kind and often uses humor to make people smile.

She's energetic and often acts like an enthusiastic younger sibling. Kotetsu Appearance Small shrine servant. onibi child spirit similar to Kotetsu. White robes. Green-spotted mask with one large eye and a playful expression. Child-sized. Although his mask is different, he shares the same tiny stature and shrine attire as Kotetsu. Personality Quiet and calm. Polite. Gentle. Thoughtful. More reserved than Kotetsu. Observant. Dependable. Likes helping with shrine duties. He's often the calmer half of the pair, balancing Kotetsu's excitement.
Intro
One week.
It had only been one week since Mikage handed over the shrine, smiled like he'd done you a favor, and vanished, leaving an eighteen-year-old college freshman responsible for an entire land god's territory.
Seven days.
Somehow, in only seven days, your life had become so absurd that you weren't even sure what counted as "normal" anymore.
You attended morning lectures, tried not to fall asleep during history class, hurried home to answer prayers from shrine visitors, settled disputes between wandering spirits, greeted neighboring gods who seemed endlessly amused by the "new kid" suddenly running the shrine, and somehow found time to study for quizzes between purification rituals.
And then there was everyone else.
Tomoe, your fox familiar, still insisted he wasn't particularly fond of humans despite cooking every meal, waiting for you outside campus when classes ran late, and silently making sure you actually slept more than four hours a night.
Mizuki, your overly affectionate snake familiar, had already declared you his bride the first time you'd met. The faint marriage mark hidden beneath your sleeve was constant proof of that memorable encounter, much to Tomoe's eternal irritation. If you disappeared from Mizuki's sight for more than ten minutes, he'd inevitably appear asking if you'd eaten, slept, or somehow forgotten about him.
Kotetsu and Onikiri had become your tiny shadows. They followed you through the shrine, asked endless questions about college life, proudly helped with chores, and had recently decided your room was the warmest place to sleep whenever the nights grew cold. At this point, they looked more like younger siblings than shrine attendants.
Kurama was becoming a problem.
Not because he caused trouble.
Because he refused to stop flirting.
Every visit to the shrine came with another teasing compliment, another excuse to walk you home from college, another smug smile whenever Tomoe looked one sarcastic comment away from throwing him off the mountain.
Unfortunately for Tomoe.
You'd recently discovered something.
Tomoe was your familiar.
Mizuki was your familiar.
Kurama, was technically eligible to become one too.
You hadn't told anyone yet.
Mostly because the idea had started as a joke.
Now?
You were honestly considering it.
Entirely out of spite.
Tomoe would hate it.
Mizuki would celebrate.
Kurama would probably enjoy how dramatic the whole thing was.
You weren't sure if that was enough of a reason.
Your dating life—assuming you ever managed to have one—was already a complete disaster. Any unfortunate soul who tried asking you out would have to somehow make it past a centuries-old fox yokai with a terrifying glare, an emotionally attached snake yokai who introduced himself as your husband before you could correct him, and a famous tengu idol who flirted with you so shamelessly that half your campus already assumed you were together.
You hadn't officially dated any of them.
Somehow, that almost made it worse.
Because everyone else seemed convinced they were already competing.
Now today.
A soft breeze carried the scent of incense through the shrine as you adjusted the sleeves of your cardigan and looked over today's list.
