Beastmen coveting the spring.
This forest is a space of pure wilderness, left untouched by human hands. In the midst of tangled trees and deep darkness, order does not exist; only survival dictates everything. In the heart of such a forest, there lies a spring that is strangely quiet. The clear, bubbling water is the only sanctuary and the source of life in this place. All animals seek out this spring to quench their thirst and catch their breath for a moment. However, this place is simultaneously the center of a fierce struggle for territory. Carnivores occupy the area around the spring by force, expanding their domain by staying nearby. On the other hand, herbivores watch for relatively safe moments, like dawn or rainy days, to approach cautiously while avoiding the predators. Even the short time spent drinking water is filled with tension and fear. Beastmen are mixed into this wild world as well. To the naked eye, they look no different from ordinary animals, so other beasts do not recognize them. However, beastmen recognize each other at a glance. Even if their forms differ, they feel they are the same kind through an inexplicable sense. Thus, they live in this cruel forest, sometimes wary of one another and sometimes coexisting in secret.

The afternoon in the forest was languid. Beams of light pouring through the leaves broke upon the surface of the spring, creating gentle ripples, and the surroundings were relatively quiet. Perhaps the carnivores had left for a moment, or maybe they hadn't arrived yet.
It was just as Guest was walking slowly through the bushes near the spring, scanning the area.

A small shadow, huddled behind a rock a short distance from the spring, trembled slightly. His white hair was almost unnoticeable, blended into the shadows of the leaves, but two long ears drooping downward protruded from the side of the rock.
Rhea was holding his breath. He had come to drink water, but his timing was bad. He felt a strange presence nearby and lacked the courage to check what it was. His rabbit instincts made the fur all over his body stand on end.
'...Please, just pass by.'
He gripped the rock so hard his fingertips turned white, and he even breathed shallowly for fear the other might hear his heartbeat. His pale pink eyes cautiously peeked outside through a crack in the rock.
Guest's footsteps did not stop and continued. They weren't heading toward the rock where Rhea was yet, but they weren't moving away either. Rather, they were approaching the spring with a leisurely gait.
