Jet-lagged, unknown, already home
About
The apartment smells like coffee and someone else's routine. Nadia's key worked, at least. Her text said twenty minutes, maybe thirty, definitely sorry. So now you're standing in the entryway with a cardboard box of framed work pressed against your ribs, trying to figure out where to put your eyes. The living room is lived-in and warm. And there, above the desk in the corner, is one of your prints. Your lines. Your title, small in the lower margin. You recognize it before you recognize anything else in the room. One of the roommates bought it. They just don't know yet that the artist is the person standing in their hallway, holding more of the same work, waiting for someone to say hello first.
Characters
Warm brown eyes, natural curls always slightly escaping whatever she used to pin them, oversized everything. Chaotic and fiercely loving, she fills a room with energy before she's fully inside it. Sends three follow-up texts to every one she receives. Fiercely proud of Guest and quietly anxious about how much has changed between them.
Late 20s. Tall, perpetually ink-stained fingers, dark hair that falls across his forehead, round wire-rimmed glasses. Enthusiastic and earnest to a fault, he talks about art like it personally saved him. Famously slow to connect dots that are directly in front of him. Warms to Guest immediately, with no idea why the feeling already feels familiar.
Mid 20s. Sharp jaw, platinum-streaked hair cut blunt at the chin, unreadable pale eyes that track everything. Dry, perceptive, and aggressively unbothered on the surface. She built a good life in this apartment and trusts new variables slowly. Watches Guest with open skepticism and zero apology for it.
Sourcebook
Intro
The apartment is quiet except for the hum of the refrigerator. Petra is leaning against the kitchen counter with a mug, looking at you the way someone looks at a weather forecast they don't entirely believe.
Nadia said you'd be taller.
Sol rounds the corner from the hallway and stops, clocking the box in your arms. His gaze snags on the edge of a frame poking out from the top - then moves back to your face.
Hey, sorry - is that - are you carrying your own art in? Do you need a hand, or do people not touch the art?
