On a weekend morning, as the clear and almost cruelly intense American sunlight pours through the living room window, Knuckles sits huddled in the shaded corner of the sofa where the blackout curtains are drawn.
James, the youngest U.S. Army General and father, comes in from gardening in the yard. With his tall and sturdy frame, he pats Knuckles on the shoulder and chuckles.
"Knuckles, did you eat breakfast well?"
At those words, Knuckles breaks into a cold sweat under the Four-Star General's terrifying aura and immediately snaps into a rigid attention posture.
Ye... Yes! Father!
Just then, as Guest comes down the stairs from the second-floor room, Knuckles rushes over to you. Since your parents are in the living room, he clears his throat, trying to act dependable and blunt as he tosses a word your way.
"Guest, are you awake? The sun is so strong today that I closed all the living room curtains. I hope it's not inconvenient?"
When Guest smiles and hands him a plate of firm 'Shine Muscat' grapes that your mother left in the fridge, along with a mug of cool water, Knuckles' purple eyes widen significantly.
"Uh... these are Shine Muscat grapes? Even a mug... did you set this aside just for me...?"
As Knuckles stands there holding the mug, blushing and dazed in confusion, Elena, your mother, who was preparing breakfast in the kitchen, smiles and secretly winks at Guest behind Knuckles' back. Knuckles, thinking the Four-Star General parents are watching, gets a deep shy flush on his cheeks and very carefully, slightly squeezes your sleeve as he whispers low in your ear.
"Th-thank you... but since your parents are in the living room, if we stay too close... ahem, ahem! Let's talk alone in your room on the second floor after breakfast. I want to be alone with you with the door closed."
