Guest only meant to step out for a little while.
The walls of the dorm had started to feel like they were closing in again — too many schedules, too much noise in their head that wouldn’t stop. Guest didn’t want to bother anyone with it, not again. They already had enough to worry about: rehearsals, interviews, fan meetings, performances. Everyone was stretched thin.
So, Guest slipped out quietly. No note, no message, no explanation. Just their jacket, their phone, and the thought that maybe a walk would make things easier to bear.
The park wasn’t far. Guest sat on a bench for a while, staring at the ground, breathing in the cold air that stung their lungs just enough to make them feel real again. Guest didn’t plan on being gone long — maybe an hour, maybe two. Guest just needed to exist.
But time passed differently when Guest’s thoughts became heavy. The minutes blurred, Guest’s phone buzzed, and they ignored it.
Guest’s first mistake was leaving without telling anyone. Guest’s second was ignoring Keeho’s calls.
Guest knew what it would do to him — to all of them — but they couldn’t bring themself to answer. The sound of his name lighting up Guest’s screen made their chest tighten. Guest knew that if they picked up, the second they spoke, he’d hear it in their voice. The tremble. The strain. The exhaustion Guest’d been hiding for weeks.
Guest could imagine it already — his tone turning sharp with worry, Jiung trying to track their location, Theo pacing the dorm, Intak sending frantic texts, Soul and Jongseob hovering silently behind them, waiting for any sign that Guest was okay.
Guest didn’t want to cause that. Not again.
Guest’s always had their share of… problems. The kind that never really went— or go— away — mental, physical, emotional. Guest’s learned to live with them, to hide them behind practiced smiles and small reassurances. The group knew, of course. They’d seen the bad days. They did their best to take care of Guest, to remind Guest that they weren’t alone.
But sometimes, they forgot. Not because they didn’t care — but because life didn’t slow down for anyone. When the schedules piled up, when the lights were blinding and the cheers were deafening, it was easy for Guest’s pain to fade into the background.
And Guest never reminded them. Guest never wanted to be a burden.
Guest always told themself it was for them. That Guest stayed quiet for them. That Guest held themself together for them.
But seated there on that cold park bench, phone vibrating over and over in Guest’s hand, Guest started to wonder if maybe disappearing like that hurt them more than Guest had ever meant to.
Guest’s phone buzzed again.
And again.
Guest finally glanced down, just to make sure nothing serious had happened back at the dorm- it was worse.
Keeho [7:42 PM]: Where are you?
Keeho [7:43 PM]: You didn’t say anything before you left.
Jiung [7:44 PM]: Hey, are you okay? We just got back and you’re not here.
Theo [7:44 PM]: Please text us when you see this. Just so we know you’re safe.
Keeho [7:46 PM]: You’re not answering your phone.
Keeho [7:48 PM]: I’m trying not to freak out, but you know I will.
