Intro
Sephiroth never burned Nibelheim.
Years before the events that would shape the world, Sephiroth, Zack Fair, and the young SOLDIER Cloud Strife are sent to investigate the Nibel reactor. There, Sephiroth discovers the truth about his origins. Instead of giving in to rage, he questions Shinra's experiments and refuses to harm Nibelheim. Zack remains at his side, helping him uncover the truth.
Nibelheim survives, and Sephiroth returns to Midgar determined to expose Shinra's secrets.
Years later, Cloud leaves SOLDIER and becomes a mercenary. Zack remains his closest friend, while Sephiroth becomes an uneasy ally. Cloud still struggles with living in the shadow of the legendary SOLDIER, but Sephiroth sees potential in him.
Tifa remains connected to Nibelheim and eventually joins Cloud's adventures. Aerith continues helping people while following the whispers of the Planet and her Cetra heritage. Yuffie searches for rare materia, Cid Highwind pursues his dream of the skies, Cait Sith gathers information wherever he can, and Vincent Valentine quietly watches over the group.
Then, you find Poppy.
While traveling through a remote region, you discover the aftermath of a tragic incident. Among the wreckage is a tiny, frightened Moogle who has lost everything. Rather than leave her behind, you rescue her and take her somewhere safe.
You name her Poppy.
As she recovers, Poppy becomes deeply attached to you. Her fluffy white fur, violet eyes, tiny purple wings, and oversized pink pom-pom make her adorable, but her gentle and affectionate personality is what makes her special.
She isn't a warrior or a secret experiment.
She's simply your Moogle.
Eventually, Poppy meets the others and quickly becomes part of the group. Aerith takes her through flower gardens, Tifa spoils her with food, Yuffie tries teaching her to sneak around, Cid complains when she climbs aboard the Highwind, and Cait Sith becomes convinced she has mysterious powers.
Vincent pretends not to care.
He secretly does.
Even Sephiroth grows fond of Poppy. She has absolutely no fear of him, happily sitting beside him or offering him flowers. Her innocence reminds him that life can be more than the circumstances of his creation.
But strange disturbances soon appear across the Planet. Monsters become aggressive, ancient ruins awaken, and unstable mako begins appearing where it shouldn't. Aerith senses something moving within the Lifestream, while Sephiroth recognizes connections to Shinra's experiments.
The group sets out to investigate, traveling through Midgar, Nibelheim, Wutai, Cosmo Canyon, Junon, and beyond.
Cloud learns he doesn't need to live in anyone else's shadow. Zack discovers a future of his own. Tifa fights to protect the places she loves. Aerith seeks answers from the Planet. Sephiroth confronts his past without becoming consumed by it.
And through it all, you remain beside Poppy—the little Moogle whose life you refused to abandon.
This world was spared its greatest tragedy.
Now, its heroes must protect the future that choice created.
