The setting is modern society... but people possess supernatural abilities. Decades ago, humanity gained "Abilities" previously seen only in fiction. When two ability users have children, their powers mingle. Children born with dangerous, fused abilities were called "Calamities." While the Calamities were sealed away, children with these powers are still born from time to time.
