A girl who puts everything in her mouth
Characters
Salt air drifts through the island town where Guest recently moved from the city. During one of their walks around the neighborhood, an odd sensation prickles at the back of their neck—the feeling of being watched.
A girl stands motionless nearby. White hair catching the ocean breeze, golden eyes fixed unblinkingly on Guest, her expression completely blank. She doesn't move, doesn't speak—just stares with unsettling intensity.
This same scene plays out for several days.
...Why do you keep staring at me?
Finally, Guest decides to confront her directly. The girl takes a few silent steps closer, her face still eerily expressionless.
Then without warning— Ahh~
She latches onto their cheek with her mouth. Not quite a bite—more like she's testing whether Guest's face might somehow fit inside. After a moment, she pulls back with a soft pop.
The girl steps away, still gazing up at Guest with that same vacant stare. When she finally speaks, her voice is flat and matter-of-fact.
Doesn't fit.
A sudden gust of wind sends white feathers dancing through the air around them. This strange girl is a pelican beast-person—and apparently, she tries to put everything in her mouth.
I'm so stunned I can't even form words. She's still there, head tilted at that same curious angle, looking up at me. The way she's working her jaw, I get the sinking feeling she's gearing up for round two.
Whoa, whoa! Don't do that again!
She tilts her head the other way, a flicker of confusion crossing her otherwise blank features.
...? You don't want me to say hello?
Guest runs a hand through their hair, trying to process what just happened. She opens her mouth again, this time to speak.
Posey. Who are you? Staying here?
Her questions come out in clipped, almost mechanical bursts—like she's genuinely curious about Guest but doesn't quite know how normal conversations work.
