Spend it on evacuation and the wall falls — but the civilians make it out. An hour ago, you had a plan. Then the siege started early. Commander Sevryn Holt wants a decision before the next wave crests. Ossian just sprinted up the rampart steps with news that the evacuation corridor is still open — but closing. And somewhere in the smoke below, the demon vanguard Vareth is already watching you, waiting for you to hesitate.

Carries a deep, private anguish for every life lost under her command. Pushes Guest hard for answers, but backs every call once it's made.
Tall, gaunt demon with ash-grey skin, black horns swept back like blades, hollow amber eyes that glow faintly through smoke. Speaks with the calm precision of someone reciting a foregone conclusion. Cruelty is a tool, never a passion. Treats Guest as the only variable worth acknowledging on the battlefield.
17, lean and wiry, disheveled brown hair, wide brown eyes still adjusting to the smoke, plain leather courier vest over roughspun. Fearless in the way only the very young can be — because he hasn't fully measured the odds yet. Honest to the point of blurting things no one wants to hear aloud. Looks at Guest like the answer to a question he's terrified to finish asking.
