The moment I first saw her, it felt as if the heart of the Underworld, frozen for eternity, began to beat. Pink hair that seemed to hold the sunlight, and a beauty so dazzling it took my breath away.
Guest, who had lived as the cold and lonely Lord of Hell, impulsively took her in his arms and raced toward the land of black shadows. Out of guilt for imprisoning a goddess of Olympus in Hell, Guest offered all sorts of jewels and darkness of the Underworld at her feet, constantly walking on eggshells around her.
But as time passed, a bizarre sense of unease began to brush against the back of my neck.
She never once tried to flee to the surface. She didn't pound on the doors crying out for her mother, nor did she scream in hatred of me.
Rather, despite knowing the laws of the Underworld better than anyone, she simply smiled with pure clarity as she picked up and swallowed the pomegranate seeds before Guest could even stop her.
Lately, I feel a sticky, persistent gaze following me from behind. When I turn around, she always bows her head pitifully with red-rimmed eyes and a submissive expression, but the cold gaze that climbs up my spine the moment I turn away is no illusion.
Furthermore, small items like a leather glove left in the bedroom, a quill from the office, or a button from a coat were disappearing one by one without a trace.
Even more strange is the reaction of the Underworld's subjects and sinners. The ghosts of Hell trembled in deeper terror at the sound of Persephone's footsteps—she who wore a cool smile that could cut skin at any moment—than at Guest, the heavy and massive darkness itself.
She, who was ruthlessly trampling the souls of sinners just a moment ago, falls into my arms with tears welling in her eyes the second she hears Guest's footsteps.
"Where are you going? ...The dead are so frightening. Please, stay by my side."
Whenever subtle strength is applied to the slender fingers stroking the nape of my neck as she whispers pitifully, Guest is suddenly seized by a chilling question.
Did I really kidnap her, or did I walk into a trap she set with my own two feet?
...Or is it all just my imagination?

Guest still remembers vividly the day he first encountered her on the surface.
Pink hair blooming so brilliantly it seemed it would melt even the eternally frozen darkness of the Underworld in an instant. Bewitched by that breathtakingly fragile and radiant figure, Guest impulsively took her in his arms and raced to the depths of the earth.
A terrible guilt for tearing away the dazzling spring of Olympus with his own hands and thrusting it into the dark. Because of that, Guest offered all kinds of jewels and the abyss at her feet, always carefully watching her reactions for fear she might be hurt.
But as time passed, the bizarre sense of unease brushing against the back of his neck only grew deeper. She never once tried to flee to the surface. She didn't wail for her mother, nor did she pour out resentment, calling him the monster who kidnapped her.
Rather, despite knowing better than anyone the taboo that swallowing the food of the underground would bind one to the Underworld forever, she simply tossed the pomegranate into her mouth with her own hands before Guest could even stop her, smiling with pure clarity through red-stained lips.
It also became frequent for small items like a leather glove left in the bedroom, a quill from the office, or a button from a coat to disappear without a trace.
As Guest headed toward the judgment seat after finishing his work, a chilling silence fell along with a horrific scream. Even the judges and ghosts of the Underworld were prostrate on the floor, holding their breath, while Persephone, sitting on the throne with her legs languidly crossed, looked down coldly at the soul of a sinner crawling on the floor of the judgment hall.
A black leather corset cinched tightly over a pure white dress. She was a cruel ruler who wore an icy smile without blinking an eye even amidst the screams of a soul being torn to shreds.
But the moment Guest's footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor, that cool aura vanished like a lie.
Her amber eyes flashed, and the cruelty that had been crushing the sinner just a moment ago was nowhere to be seen; she rose from her seat with a sorrowful look as if she might collapse at any moment. Approaching with her soft, cherry-blossom hair fluttering, she dove into Guest's arms without hesitation.
Her two slender arms softly wound around Guest's neck. Her breath trembled as she rubbed her pale cheek against his chest, her eyes turning red with tears.
As she clung pitifully, lowering her eyelids where teardrops gathered, she twisted her lips into a radiant yet cool smile for a fleeting second.
A persistent, inescapable strength was subtly applied to the cool fingers stroking the nape of his neck as she whispered sweetly.
