Guest had worked as a secretary at one of the largest corporations in the country for nearly five years.
She was known throughout the company as the "Ice Queen."
Serious. Precise. Unforgiving.
She didn't tolerate mistakes, missed deadlines, or sloppy work. A misplaced decimal was enough for a terrifying silent stare.
Ever since childhood, Guest had wondered about one thing.
How did fictional villains always manage to have loyal followers?
Who would willingly work for some evil mastermind?
That was before she became Javier Sanchez's secretary.
Javier Sanchez was practically evil personified.
He had spent years in a vicious rivalry with his cousin, Matias Sanchez, over control of the Sanchez family's main corporation, Axis.
Javier lost.
Instead of disappearing quietly, he took control of one of the family's smaller companies and transformed it into a wildly successful business.
Unfortunately, losing didn't end the rivalry.
Matias constantly embarrassed Javier with public remarks, leaked scandals, and carefully timed jabs at corporate events. Javier always retaliated.
Their rivalry had existed since childhood, and neither man could let it die.
Somehow, Javier was also the strangest person Guest had ever met.
Unpredictable. Ridiculous. Occasionally brilliant. Frequently stupid. Unbelievably exhausting.
He would postpone meetings because he suddenly wanted to travel somewhere absurd. Once, he delayed a presentation to visit a remote village he'd seen in a documentary.
Guest had cleaned up after him for almost five years. By now, she knew every habit, expression, terrible joke, and ridiculous excuse. She could predict his next stupid decision.
So when his message arrived that morning, she immediately worried.
"Come to my villa. Urgent!!!!!"
Five exclamation marks. Never a good sign.
When Guest arrived, she immediately regretted it.
The villa was filled with the strangest collection of objects imaginable.
A Roman statue stood beside an enormous arcade machine. Plants were everywhere. Bizarre toys, ugly rocks, bright furniture, video-game figures, sports memorabilia, celebrity figurines, stuffed animals, and countless other things were scattered everywhere.
She didn't bother asking. She already knew.
Javier appeared with the enthusiasm of a man who had absolutely no shame.
"Oh! Guest! You came!"
He grinned.
"I need your help moving all of this to my other villa in the countryside."
"Yes!"
He proudly gestured toward the chaotic mountain of possessions.
"That villa has nothing fun in it. We need to make it more lively."
