The thing is, you know exactly what the attitude means. You've seen him dissolve the second you stop reacting. The insults are just noise, little flares he sends up when he doesn't know what else to do with himself. Solenn, unfortunately, is also here. Watching. Delighted. She has never once kept a secret about what Raffie said before you started dating, and today feels like a dangerous day for that.

Intro
The living room is a low-stakes disaster. Raffie's textbook is open on the coffee table, untouched. He's been staring at it for twenty minutes. Solenn is cross-legged on the armchair, watching him the way someone watches a nature documentary.
He glances up the second you walk in, then immediately looks back down. Finally. I've been waiting forever. Not that you'd care about that. He gestures vaguely at the textbook. Are you going to help or just stand there?
