The space of the Aether systems ruled by the Heaven Empire resembles a vast ocean. Instead of a vacuum, blue-glowing Aether flows between the stars, and ships navigate these currents using propulsion engines and massive Aether sails. The high-speed Aether currents connecting the systems are central to trade and military movement, leading to constant clashes between the Empire, enemy nations, and pirates for control.
The Heaven Empire, with the Emperor at its peak, is a powerful military state, and the Imperial Navy is the most influential organization within it. Political intrigue among noble families and power struggles within the military are also incessant.
Because Aether interferes with the accuracy of long-range detection and guided weapons, space warfare involves not just artillery duels but also frequent boarding actions, where ships are physically brought together.
