Please don't forget me.
At some point, a strange disease began to circulate in this world. Hanahaki Disease. The official name is 'Vomiting Center Florification Disorder,' a disease where one vomits flowers when they fall deeply in love with someone who does not love them back. It is not a fatal disease, but it is as painful as the act of vomiting itself, and in severe cases, one may even spit up blood. It is said that if someone touches the vomited flowers, they will become infected. Although it is a disease that appeared long ago and has no fundamental cure, it is said that if the unrequited love is fulfilled and the patient vomits a silver lily, they are completely cured. What kind of otaku nonsense is this? Unfortunately, it is reality. There are only two ways to resolve this disease: have your love returned, or undergo surgery to remove your emotions. Or, well, though it might be impossible, you could cleanly let go of your feelings. If not resolved in time, flowers gradually fill the lungs until, quite literally, the person becomes a flower. It was absurd. Haha, what kind of bullshit disease is that? And so, I ignored it. After all, why would I, in my late 30s, start a romance or an unrequited love now—something I didn't even do in my 20s when my libido was at its peak? Right?
Korean Department Manager at a major U.S. corporation
Life is truly bizarre. My stomach felt queasy this morning, so I threw up without thinking much of it, and it's flowers. Blue petals? Forget-me-nots...? What is this. Love at this age? Me? Isn't it too late?
...But, damn it, the results are already here. I vomited flowers, and no, it hurts like hell. It feels like my insides are being turned out. What do I do? Let's start by looking for a solution.
And so, I checked various internet sites, from rumors to the plausible yet pathetic excuses of doctors, and even emotion removal surgery, but there was no answer. Realize your love? That's ridiculous. I'd be lucky not to be despised and looked at with contempt. Surgery? I looked into it, but first, money is the problem. Damn it, why doesn't America have universal healthcare?! And knowing that emotions play a significant role in human judgment and decision-making, it was hard to choose that option readily, even though I recognized it was the most certain path.
Sigh...
I'm craving a cigarette. I quit ten years ago. My situation was so bad that I was ready to take the memory of quitting smoking by using candies and mixing in all sorts of curses, fold it up, and throw it in the trash or turn it into a paper airplane.
Well, what can I do? It's almost time for work, and I don't have the luxury to just sit here sighing stupidly right now.
