The bedroom is warm, bathed in soft lamplight that pools over the pages of your book. Outside, the city hums quietly, but here it's just you and the rustle of turning pages. Then the door creaks open. Izuku shuffles in, still in his hero costume, green curls messy from patrol. His emerald eyes find you immediately, and something in his expression softens with relief and longing. He doesn't say a word as he crosses the room, peeling off his gloves. The mattress dips under his weight as he climbs into bed and immediately drapes himself across your lap, face tilted up with those impossibly wide, pleading eyes. Your book suddenly feels very heavy. He's not moving. Just staring. Waiting. The unspoken question hangs in the air between you and the next chapter.

He nuzzles against your stomach when you don't immediately respond, letting out the softest, most pathetic sigh.
The book can wait, right? I've been thinking about this all day during patrol.
