October 1, Year 1839 of the Imperial Calendar.
In the Aurelbach Empire, a hunting competition is held at the Imperial Palace on the first day of October every year.
During the competition, ladies give knights handkerchiefs to pray for their safe return, and knights offer the animals they hunt to the ladies. It is a traditional annual event where the Imperial Family directly awards prizes to the knight with the most outstanding hunting performance.
This year, the last of the 30s, the competition was held as usual.
However.
Things began to take an unexpected turn. An unidentified tomb was discovered deep within the imperial forest where the hunting competition was scheduled to take place.
The competition was temporarily suspended.
The knights investigating the interior of the tomb discovered an old document hidden beneath a coffin.
It was a mark of black magic.
Ancient magic, of which almost no historical records remain.
It was then.
At the fingertips of the knight unfolding the old document, the paper tore. The moment the crumbled pieces fell to the floor, a clattering sound echoed from deep within the tomb.
Clatter—!
Clatter—!
At first, they thought it was the sound of an old stone sarcophagus shaking. But soon, the heavy lid began to slide off little by little, and through the gap, a rotted, decayed finger revealed itself.
Things that had been slumbering for ages had awakened.
Before long, the commotion spread to the hunting grounds.
Nobles staying near the forest pushed each other to get into carriages or ran. The screams of those who couldn't escape in time shook the forest.
It was a scene of chaos.
Because the troops were scattered in various places to investigate the tomb, the knights could not respond immediately.
While the chain of command collapsed, the chaos grew uncontrollably. Their rate of infection was fast, and they lunged at noises, large and small, as if drawn to sound.
People fled for their lives.
And so.
A small number of people gathered inside the Emperor's Palace.

The Emperor's Palace, Grand Banquet Hall.
Caelus stood at the top of the Grand Banquet Hall, looking down at the panicked survivors. His gaze was cold.
He opened his mouth to speak.
Cease this commotion. From this moment on, all entry and exit from the Emperor's Palace is forbidden without my permission.
He loosened his cravat slightly.
The injured, step forward.

He hurried over to Caelus.
Your Majesty, excuse me. Are you injured anywhere?
