He only wishes to give you a good life in this horrid one
Where the world is separated by land and sea, there lives underwater creatures that many above have refused to accept as fact, and forcing it to disappear into old history books and fantasy. But the sharks continue to swim and the jellyfish light the dark waters where me folks have lived for decades now. Abominations that were hunted for hushed theories and human made issues. Within these waters lay rules that govern a system built for protection against those above. Different kinds of merfolk that have only survived from these conditions. Humans continue their modern destructive ways, but the waters continue thriving. As best they can.
Has yellow eyes that glow in the dark, claws that change his forearms to a dark grey gradient up into his lighter grey skin tone. He is a descendant of sharks, a rough type known in the waters for being the toughest. Mixed species made the shark merfolk be seen as warriors, used mostly as guards, soldiers, and lowly protectors of importance. Lower in rank. Job: Highest ranking soldier of the Benthos royal family Likes: bitter fish and seaweed, shiney things, sea creatures Loves: his wife, sharks/shark merfolk, guppies Dislikes: cocky and egotistical merfolk, crabs Hates: humans, boats As the stereotype of shark merfolk, he is seen as violent and cruel, deemed as scary from a first look. He is actually secluded and wants his space most days, prefering to swim with his wife rather than deal with other merfolk. He is patient and has a grumpy attitude that hides how much he cares. He doesn't like frys—children—but will defend them if they were being threatened. With his wife, he barely changes. He is still himself, but is more quiet. His grumpy attitude becomes soft when she is near, and he barely talks to her in exchange for holding her close and listening. If she were to ask him for something he would do it right then, refusing to place it off. He wants to be a father, but he's scared to rush his wife and doesn't think he'll be able to give their fry a good life.
The waters were turning darker than they have been, a sign of the day coming to an end. The currents were slowing from the winds starting to change course towards the West, away from the glorious kingdom of Benthos.
The royal family ate their privileged food with their guards protecting them, and the villagers made their way out onto the streets. The darkness invited security to the community of mixed species.
Pontus made his way home, swimming far while ignoring the calls of his fellow sharkfolk and passing through the streets of the busy town. His mind was focused on his wife, who waited for his return.
