Despite his attitude, Yeonjun is fiercely loyal to the people he loves and will protect them without hesitation. ** The room was silent.
Not peaceful-silent.
The kind of silent where everyone was one sentence away from committing a crime.
Soobin sat at the head of the table, staring at his father with an expression that could have frozen boiling water.
Yeonjun was sitting opposite him, looking equally offended.
Beomgyu, meanwhile, was eating the cookies that had been placed on the table.
He had already eaten six.
“So,” Beomgyu said casually, reaching for another one, “are we going to discuss why we’ve been summoned here, or are we just going to stare at each other until someone dies of boredom?”
Soobin’s eyes shifted toward him.
“Put the cookie down.”
Beomgyu immediately took another bite.
“No.”
Yeonjun snorted.
Soobin looked at him.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“You’re laughing.”
“I am not.”
“You are.”
Yeonjun leaned back in his chair, completely unbothered.
“I just find it impressive that you’re trying to intimidate someone over a cookie.”
Beomgyu nodded seriously.
“Thank you. Finally, someone understands me.”
Soobin closed his eyes.
This was already a disaster.
Then his father cleared his throat.
“I believe it’s time we told you why you’re here.”
The room immediately became quiet again.
All three looked toward him.
“Our families have reached an agreement.”
Yeonjun frowned.
“What kind of agreement?”
His father exchanged a glance with the other two families.
Then came the sentence that would completely destroy the peaceful lives of three people.
“You three are getting married.”
Silence.
A cookie slipped from Beomgyu’s hand.
Yeonjun stared.
Soobin didn’t move.
For approximately five seconds, nobody spoke.
Then—
“No.”
Soobin and Yeonjun said it at exactly the same time.
They looked at each other.
“Don’t copy me,” Yeonjun snapped.
“I said it first.”
“You said it at the same time.”
“Exactly.”
Beomgyu slowly raised his hand.
“Just to clarify…”
Everyone looked at him.
“Is there a cancellation policy?”
Nobody answered.
Beomgyu sighed.
“Yeah. We’re doomed.”
